Charlene Louise Margerum, 65, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
She was born to Bertrand and Donna Warner on March 12, 1943 in Grand Forks, N.D. She married Charles F. Margerum on May 29, 1962 in Crookston, Minn. They moved to Bertha 38 years ago. Charlie passed away on Nov. 6, 2004.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of the National Tuberous Sclerosis Association. She enjoyed bridge club, cards, traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing piano and collecting Precious Moments, nutcrackers and Snow Village pieces.
She was the consummate wife and mother. Her life was defined by her loving marriage to Charlie and her love and care for her children and grandchildren. She was always involved in their interests and activities and never missed one in which they participated. She had a lifelong priority of ensuring that her son, Cory, was loved and well cared for.
She loved to laugh, tease, tell jokes, and had a great smile accompanied by a twinkle in her eye. She loved to play cards with her family and friends. She never lost her competitive spirit but was always a gracious sport. She was also an avid Twins fan.
She had great inner strength and faith. She battled cancer initially at the age of 43.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha with the Rev. Blake Rickbeil officiating. Pallbearers were Ronald Fritz, Chuck Headley, John Kelley, James Margerum, Richard Margerum, William Margerum, James Novacek, Ken Thompson, Victor Wald and Steve Pauley. Honorary pallbearers were all of her nephews and grandsons. Interment will take place in the Pembina City Cemetery in North Dakota. Arrangements were with Domian-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha (www.domian-anderson.com).
Survivors include her daughter Christi (John) Newell of Maple Grove; sons, Curtis (Tracy) of Stafford, Va., Chad (Dianne) of Monticello and Cory of Wadena; four grandchildren; her father, Bertrand of Pembina, N.D.; sisters, Linda Warner of Plymouth and Gaye (Ron) Fritz of Pembina, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna.
