The Mass of Christian Burial for Cecelia Beckner of Wadena, was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the St. Anns Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Cecelia passed away at the age of 96, on January 24, 2014 at the St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls, MN.
Cecelia Marie Beckner was born January 10, 1918, to John and Mathilda (Pischke) Reger in Wadena, MN. She was the youngest of eight children; three boys and five girls. Cecelia grew up in Wadena where she met and married Herb Beckner of Motley. It was there she spent the majority of her life, first as a homemaker, and in 1957, she became the first employee of the El Ray Truck Stop. In 1959, she made a career move and was hired as secretary and bookkeeper at the Motley Public School, where she remained for 29 years until her retirement. She returned to the family property in Wadena. By October 2013, she moved to St. Ottos in Little Falls, where she remained until her death.
Cecelia is survived by her sons, Larry of Motley and John (Michelle Schilling) of Casper, WY; Larrys son Erik; special daughter-in-law Gail and children Tammy and Jonathan; former daughter-in-law Joni Beckner and children Jason, Angela and Katherine; along with eight great-grandchildren.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband R. Herbert; parents John and Mathilda; brothers Andrew, Jack and Matthew; sisters Clara Ehlen, Ann Andrie, Mary "Mickey" Alfonso along with an infant sister; and granddaughter Mary Ann Beckner.
Honorary pallbearers were Edward Bretz and Jonathan "Bubba" Beckner. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Ehlen, Erik Rislund, John Thomas, Tom Andrie and Jason Beckner.
Burial will be held at a later date.
