Carolyn Koskiniemi

Carolyn Joan Koskiniemi, 61, of rural Nimrod, passed away Jan. 9, 2009, at her home.

She was born to Archibald and Alice (Marshall) Oehlenschlager on Sept. 1, 1947, in Wadena. She was raised in rural Nimrod and graduated in 1965 from Sebeka Public School. She married Lester Koskiniemi on June 4, 1966. She continued her education at the Wadena Technical College from 1965-66. She worked for various companies over the years including the Sebeka Co-op, Honeywell and LaMar. She was a member of the Wadena County Sheriff's Posse. She worked as a bailiff for Wadena County. She was a member and officer of several bowling leagues. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, bowling and horse riding. She enjoyed country living and lived on and helped with the family farm from 1976 to 2009. She was a member of the Sebeka United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Sebeka United Methodist Church with the Rev. Loren Ferch officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment services will be at East Lyons Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Colleen Germundson, Bernice Kangas, Carol Taggart, Linda Kern, Marty Horton and Carolyn Pulju. Active casketbearers will be John Oehlenschlager Jr., Steve Oehlenschlager Jr., Erik Oehlenschlager, Chad Oehlenschlager, Jim Stiles and Zak Koskiniemi. Interment will be at East Lyons Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home Sebeka.

Survivors include her husband, Lester Koskiniemi, of rural Nimrod; daughter, Kelly Koskiniemi Fennell and her husband Tom; son, Jesse Koskiniemi and his wife Julie; special children, Klaus Kronschnabl and Christopher Trombley; brothers, John Oehlenschlager and his wife Kay of rural Nimrod, Steve Oehlenschlager and his wife Dionne of Alexandria, Richard Oehlenschlager and his wife Margaret Mary of Minneapolis; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Archie Oehlenschlager.
