The funeral service for Carol Macklanburg of Park Rapids and formerly of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek. Friends may call on Friday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Carol died at the age of 91, on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, MN.
Carol Doris Macklanburg was born to August and Alma (Pederson) Dahle on January 2, 1922, in Otter Tail County, MN. She attended Deer Creek Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1940.
Carol Dahle was united in marriage to Herbert Otto Macklanburg on December 3, 1942 in Deer Creek. Their days were filled with raising their family and managing their farm. Carol was a homemaker who filled her spare hours with gardening, reading, collecting stamps and traveling. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek and of the neighborhood homemakers group.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Herbert on October 11, 1999; her parents August and Alma; brothers Lloyd and Orville Dahle; sister Phyllis; sister-in-law Peggy Dahle; and brothers-in-law George Reimer and Earl Flores.
She is survived by her son Dale (Cheri) Macklanburg of Nevis; daughters Joy (Edward) Hansen of Elkton, SD and Renee (John) Schlegelmilch of Red Wing; 8 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Lola Flores of Henderson, NV.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Carols grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren: Carol Gross, Julie Grossman, Eric Macklanburg, Sara Clark, Erin Mendez, Kari Stock and Jeffrey Benson.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Deer Creek.
