Carol Gerhardson

Carol LaVonne (Gustafson) Gerhardson, 63, of Bluffton, passed away June 10, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

She was born Aug. 26, 1945, in Willmar. She grew up in New London, Minn. She graduated with the class of 1963 from New London High School. After graduation, she attended Willmar Community College. On Nov. 27, 1965, she married Gerald Gerhardson at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London. Their marriage was blessed with four children; Tammy, Sherry, Jeff and Becky. They made their home and farmed on the Gerhardson family farm in rural Belgrade, Minn. In 1969, they moved and farmed together in rural Bluffton. Family was a priority to her; it was very important to keep her family together and to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, dancing, snowmobiling, games on her computer and spending time at the lake.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with the Rev. Rob Nelson officiating. The pallbearers were Dan Gustafson, Jacob Gerhardson, Dan Gerhardson, Dave Gerhardson, Craig Gustafson, Joshua Gerhardson, and Jeramiah Gerhardson. The honorary pallbearers were all of her grandchildren. She was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Gerhardson of Bluffton; daughters, Tammy (Mike) Snyder of Wadena, Sherry (Rick) Dykhoff of Ottertail, Becky (Sean) Uselman of Wadena; her son, Jeff (Laurie) Gerhardson of Siren, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Don (Julie) Gustafson of Deer Creek and David (Crystal) Rath of South Dakota; many other relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and stepfather, Harry Rath.
