Carl C. Jessen, 58, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
He was born April 16, 1951, in Park Rapids, the son of Elmer and Lucille Jessen. He grew up in the Sebeka area and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1969. He attended college at Moorhead State where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He was in the Army from 1970-72 where he served as a radio mechanic. He married Elaine Brinkman on May 30, 1982, at Sharon Lutheran in Grand Forks. He was self employed and worked in taxes and accounting business.
He was a member of the Red River Lion's Club where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award which is the highest achievement a Lion member can receive. He was also a board member of the Lions Foundation of North Dakota, and past treasurer and active member of Sharon Lutheran Church of Grand Forks.
A funeral service was held Saturday, April 25, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Military honors were provided by the North Dakota Army National Guard, East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157, East Grand Forks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817, and the North Dakota National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Brinkman; daughters, Danielle and Elizabeth; mother, Lucille Jessen; brothers, Donald (Marilyn), Elmer Jr. (Gail), and Willard (Linda).
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Sr.
