Camp Noah is coming to Wadena

Camp Noah is a fun day camp for children entering first grade through children who have completed sixth grade. Camp Noah facilitates the emotional and psychological recovery of children who have experienced natural disaster. It is a caring and fun environment with curriculum specifically designed to help children process disaster. The five day curriculum celebrates each child's uniqueness, gifts and talents by giving them an opportunity to tell their own story, face their fears and grieve over losses such as a home, trees, a park, a swimming pool or a school.

Camp Noah teaches resiliency skills and a sense of preparedness, no matter what comes their way.

Camp Noah will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 16-20. Arrangements can be made if you need to drop your child off early or pick them up later. Each day includes a lunch and two snacks. Those who are dropped at 8 a.m. will be fed breakfast. The cost is $5 per child for the week ($10 family max). Each child receives a quilt, a blanket, crafts and a backpack with preparedness items in it.

Registrations are available at area churches, the school, swimming lessons and from Christie Meier.

Volunteers are needed, so contact Christie Meier at (218) 371-1515 if you are interested. Training is provided from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 9-10 (place to be determined).
