Camp gives youths a serious workout
Youths ages 8 to 16 sweated it out at the first-ever Timberwolves Camp on July 16-17 at Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary Gymnasium.
Even though the hot, humid weather made the gym feel like a sauna, boys and girls attending the camp enjoyed the rigorous workout.
"It's tough, but I'm learning a lot," said Sean Carlson, 10. His twin sister, Maggie, was also participating in the camp.
Steve Brown, director of the Timberwolves Basketball Academy, and Cameron Hodges, former 6-foot 5-inch Minnesota State-Mankato guard, who spent the last year playing professional basketball in Europe, coordinated the camp.
Brown said he plans to bring back the Timberwolves Camp to Wadena next summer, where it will take place in the new WDC Middle-High School gymnasium.
"We really enjoy getting out to communities like Wadena and teaching kids about the fundamentals of basketball," Brown said.
The camp was sponsored by Wadena-Deer Creek-Bluffton Community
