Bulldogs jump Raiders in doubleheader sweep
The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs put together two 10-hit games Friday to hand Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 11-5 and 12-8 losses.
Monica Rice and Brook Rehm sparked the Bulldogs at the plate in Game 1 combining for five hits, four RBIs and four runs.
Emily Marso went seven innings for OTC, walking one while fanning four.
Kirstin Korfe, Jordyn Glenz, Sydney Weniger and Tiffany Wangerin combined for eight of BHV’s nine hits, four RBIs and three runs.
The Raiders were guilty of nine errors.
The Bulldogs rallied from an 8-7 sixth-inning deficit in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
Wangerin combined with Sarah Moenkedick for four hits, five RBIs and three runs.
Olivia Hull went 2-for-3, homered, scored twice and drove in four runs in the comeback win. Carly VanWatermulen went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Rice went 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored one.
Hanna Ranstad went all the way for OTC to notch the win. Korfe was tagged with the loss.

Park Region Conference leader New York Mills rapped out 26 hits Thursday in a sweep of the Raiders at Verndale.
The Eagles bunched their runs into three innings in Game 1 scoring six in the first, seven in the fourth and five in the sixth.
Lydia Irons, LeAnn Flanigan and Sidney Imsande combined for 13 RBIs, six hits and six runs in the opener. Flanigan and Imsande both homered.
Sydney Weniger had a two-run double for the Raiders. Kristin Korfe went 1-for-3, scored twice and drove in a run.
Autumn Roberts fanned six and walked only one in gaining the pitching win. Korfe was hung with the loss.
Rhiana Roberts went the distance for Mills in Game 2 and threw shutout ball in four innings. Roberts did not walk a batter and struck out four.
The Raiders grabbed a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth but the Eagles came back with two in the bottom half of the inning.
Mckenna Roberts went 2-for-3 with a run and two ribbies for New York Mills. Irons and Imsande combined for four hits and two runs.
Korfe, Elyssa Kern and Hannah VanHale, the No. 2, 3 and 4 hitters in the BHV lineup combined for six hits and four runs.
Jordan Carr took the loss.
The Eagles improved to 14-3 overall and 10-2 in the Park Region. The Raiders fell to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Sydney Weniger went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs Tuesday as the Raiders posted a five-inning victory over the Rebels.
Seventeen BHV batters went to the plate as the Raiders pushed 13 runs across the plate in the first. Eleven BHV players collected hits and five of them, Elyssa Kern, Hannah VanHale, Kirstin Korfe, Jordyn Glenz and Jordan Carr all scored three times. Korfe also drove in three runs.
Taylor Schnettler and Claudia Dorman both had two hits for Eagle Valley.
Four BHV players pitched with VanHale racking up the win.
