Braves topple Wolverines

The Menahga Braves grabbed a 44-25 halftime lead Tuesday en route to a 79-54 win over Wadena-Deer Creek.

The Braves controlled the boards 39-28 and hit on 28 of their 37 free throw attempts. The Wolverines were whistled 24 times.

Jared Reinitz led the Wolverines with 19 points while Blake Connell added 11. Dylan Dumpprope scored eight points and led the team in rebounding with 10.

Menahga won for the fourth time in a row and climbed to 10-6. The Wolverines lost for the 10th straight time and fell 4-14.

The Wolverines will host Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday in a non-conference tilt.

Detroit Lakes 70, Wadena-Deer Creek 47

Five Detroit Lakes players scored in double figures Feb. 1 in a Mid-State Conference win over the Wolverines.

Ryan Cihak paced the Lakers with 17 points while Christian Hedstrom netted 13, Kirk McLeod scored 11 and Derek Long and Nick Groth tallied 10 apiece. The Lakers were red-hot at the foul line, hitting 16 of their 17 free throw shots.

The Lakers grabbed a 40-17 lead in the first period and played to a 30-30 draw with WDC in the second half.

Jared Reinitz led the Wolverines with 13 points. Blake Connell canned 12.
