Braves best Millers, fall to Angels
The Bluffton Braves turned out a strong performance against the New York Mills Millers Friday night during Hi-10 league playoffs.
The Braves bested the Millers 12-4, with three hits by Cody Geiser. Brent Weller, Kevin Tumberg and Jake Dykhoff had two hits each. Kevin Tumberg was credited with the win on the mound, allowing 13 hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Tumberg's pitching, combined with timely hitting and good defense, secured the win for the Braves.

Braves fall to Angels 11-1
The Braves fell to the Detroit Lakes Saturday 11-1 in league playoffs. Dustin Geiser started on the mound, giving up five runs in the first inning and a total of eight runs before giving up the mound to Jon Goeden for the last inning and a half. Goeden allowed three runs and had one strikeout and three walks. The Braves earned just one run in the first inning before Detroit Lakes pitcher Brock Johnson, combined with good defensive play, shut out the Braves from further runs. Dustin Geiser and Jake Dykhoff had two hits each.
"Detroit Lakes is a good team, but we did not play as well as we are capable of playing," Braves coach Terry Geiser said.
The Braves will play next on Friday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. in Carlos in the region tournament.
