Blue Devils split games with Park Rapids, Marshall
McKenna Brand scored a pair of third period goals as Park Rapids pulled away from Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek 6-3 Tuesday at the Wadena Community Center.
The two clubs fenced in the first and second periods. Leah Dykhoff wristed in a goal at 9:13 in the opening period only to see Hannah Williams and Leeza Tostenson put the Panthers on top 2-1 before the period ended.
The Blue Devils regained the lead in the second period on back-to-back goals by Halley Maas and Sam Holweger. Dykhoff and Sarah Najjar earned assists on the goals.
Jessica Gapinski iced a goal at the 5:51 mark of the second period to knot the score at 3-3.
After Brittany Floyd gave Park Rapids a 4-3 lead at 12:44 of the final period, Brand scored the game's final two goals.
Sam Gorka stopped 37 shots in goal for the Blue Devils. Bailey Moore kicked out 19 shots in the victory.
The only thing standing between us and a win was a consistent effort," LPGE/WDC head coach Jim Conrad said. "We played well for spurts, then toned it down for a little while."

Leah Dykhoff iced the winning goal with under six minutes to play Saturday as the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek Blue Devils posted a 5-4 victory over Marshall.
The win was the Blue Devils' second one-goal victory of the season over Marshall. They posted a 2-1 victory over the Tigers Dec. 28 in the first round of the Schwan Cup at Blaine.
The Blue Devils iced the first four goals of the game but the Tigers roared back to tie the game in the third period on back-to-back goals by Ida Erikkson.
Sarah Holm notched the victory in goal. Holm suffered a concussion during the Schwan Cup tournament.
