Blue Devils stomp Eagles 6-0
The Blue Devils crushed the Windom Eagles Dec. 26 in a holiday tournament in Windom.
The Blue Devils took an early lead with a powerplay goal scored by Ashlee Helseth, assisted by McKenzie Christianson less than three minutes into the first period. The Blue Devils furthered their lead with three additional goals in the first by McKayla Woods, Sara Casperson and Abigail Ecker. Christianson, Lupita Mora and Brooke Ostendorf were credited with assists.
The Blue Devils scored a lone goal each in the second and third periods. Zara Einerwold, assisted by Ecker, scored 3:30 into the second. Helseth, assisted by Kylee Damm, scored 12:41 into the third.
Goalie Angela Hanson was on fire, denying the Eagles any goals. Hanson stopped all 19 attempts.
The final score was in favor of the Blue Devils 6-0.
Blue Devils fall to Tigers 5-2 in holiday tournament
The Blue Devils faced the Princeton Tigers in their second matchup of the holiday tournament in Windom.
The Tigers drew first blood with a shorthanded goal scored 5:28 into the first period. Blue Devils' Morgan Zeise answered one minute later with a powerplay goal assisted by Abigail Ecker.
The Tigers found the net late in the first to take the lead going into the second period. They further extended their lead shutting out the Blue Devils in the second while putting up two more points.
The Blue Devils rallied in the third with a powerplay goal by Ecker early in the third assisted by Christianson, but could not close the gap. The Tigers found the net late in the third to seal the win.
Goalie Angela Hanson save 24 of the 29 Tiger attempts. The Blue Devils made two of their 17 attempts.
The Blue Devils will play their next game Jan. 3 in Luverne at 7 p.m.
