Blazers hold Giants to five hits in doubleheader sweep
Dakota Aeling, Preston Riewer, Jared Hoemberg and Brian Hinzmann combined to silence the Henning bats Saturday as the Bertha Blazers won 10-0 and 12-0 in town team action.
Riewer notched the victory in Game 1 with a three-inning relief appearance highlighted by five strikeouts. Riewer and Hoemberg each allowed only one hit.
Hoemberg homered, scored twice and drove in two runs in the opener. Preston and Patrick Riewer both drove in two runs. Aeling reached base four times and scored twice.
Game 2 saw Hinzmann notch a win by scattering three Henning hits and striking out six in a four-inning outing. Hoemberg pitched one inning of relief.
John Riewer homered for the Blazers and drove in two runs along with Jeremy Fretham and Preston Riewer. Aeling and Nick Jasmer combined for five runs and four hits.

Michael Riewer rapped out four hits, scored three times and drove in a run as the Blazers defeated Nisswa Friday in a nine-inning decision.
The Blazers out-hit the Lightning 12-8 but waited until the later innings to do most of their damage. Bertha led 3-1 after six complete innings and broke it open in the top of the seventh with four runs.
Michael Riewer started the inning with a single, Pat Riewer drew a walk and both runners moved up on Mike Blom's infield fly. John Riewer singled in one run and moved up when Brian Hinzmann was hit by a pitch. Nick Jasmer's groundout scored Patrick Riewer. Jordan Riewer's single scored John Riewer. An error by Nisswa pitcher Lukie Schumer allowed Preston Riewer to come home.
The Lighting came right back in the bottom half of the inning with a grand slam by Jeremiah Peipkorn that sparked a five-run inning.
The Blazers out-scored the Lightning 5-2 the rest of the way. Mike, Pat and John Riewer scored for the Blazers in the top of the eighth. Mike Riewer and Dakota Aeling iced the game with runs in the ninth.
Patrick Riewer notched the win despite a rocky five-inning outing that saw him give up five hits, five earned runs and four walks while fanning six. Nisswa starter Kyle Schaible was hung with the loss.
Marcus, John and Jordan Riewer all had two safeties in the win. John Riewer scored three times and drove in two runs.
Peipkorn combined with Jason Roepke for four runs, five hits and five RBIs.
