BHV's Turchin heads to state for third time
Colin Turchin won the 285-pound championship Saturday in the Section 6A Individual Tournament to qualify for his third straight trip to the Class A state tournament.
Turchin, who was coming off a knee injury that had limited him to 16 matches prior to the tournament, defeated all three of his opponents in the individual tournament and pinned Wadena-Deer Creek's Dylan Anderson at the 51 second mark in their championship match.
Turchin is Class A's No. 2-ranked wrestler by The Guillotine.
BHV's Kasey Horn finished fourth at 130 falling to Barnesville's Seth Hirsch 5-3 in the third-place match.
Placing sixth for the Raiders were 103-pounder Justin Gordon and 171-pounder Andy Bounds. Gordon lost a 4-0 decision to New York Mills' Tommy Selander in the battle for consolation honors. Bounds was defeated by Barnesville's Kyle Johnson 4-3 in his fifth-place match.
