Funeral services for Arlene Fischer of Wadena will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Wadena with Pastor J.C. Duncan presiding. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. Arlene passed away at the age of 84 years on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Elders Home in New York Mills, MN.
Arlene was born to Frank B. and Frances (Jungels) Windels on June 18, 1929, in Blowers Township, Otter Tail County, MN. After graduation from Wadena High School she continued her education in the Licensed Practical Nurses program at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. Arlene will be remembered for the 42 years she provided care for patients at Wesley Hospital and Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. She was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary and after retiring she was a Pink Lady at the hospital. She was an avid reader and loved to play Bingo!
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Frances; brother Stanley; and sisters Mildred Bloomer and Marjorie Gonnerman.
She is survived by her loving husband Ted of Wadena; sons Gary (Paula) of Ottertail and Scott (Shelley) of St. Cloud; daughters Patti (Curt) Wells of Wahpeton, ND and Salli Crawford of Wadena; grandchildren Jason (Vicky) Wells of Fargo, ND, Tricia (Mitch) Barthel of New York Mills, Kalen (Jamie) Fischer of Ottertail, Jared (Beth) Wells of Fargo, ND, Cody Crawford, Fargo, ND, Mitchell Fischer of St. Cloud, Kelsi Crawford of Wadena and James Fischer of St. Cloud; great-grandchildren Carson, Easton & Quinn Wells, Brooklyn & Brightyn Barthel, and Ashlyn & Jack Fischer; brother Frank Windels, Jr. of Wadena; sister Janet (Ken) Ament of Ottertail; sister-in-law Delores Rentz; many nieces and nephews; along with a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arlenes great-grandchildren and her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in the Wadena Cemetery.
