Annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse is on the air Dec. 3-4
Radio stations KWAD/KNSP and Superstation K-106 are again asking for listeners to help end child abuse. The fifth annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse will be held from noon Dec. 3 through noon Dec. 4. Five county Child Abuse Prevention Councils will assist the stations including Cass, Hubbard, Otter Tail, Todd and Wadena.
In the first four years that KWAD/KNSP and Superstation K-106 have participated in the Radiothon, nearly $100,000 has been raised. The parent company of KWAD/KNSP and Superstation K-106, Omni Broadcasting, started the Radiothon in 1989 and more than $2 million has been raised. Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota is the local stations' partner in the venture and all money stays in Minnesota and with the county partners.
The counties involved have been busy collecting items for the auction portion of the Radiothon. A complete auction list can be found at kwadknsp.com or superstationk106.com. This year, listeners will also be able to make pledges online. Just go to either station's Web site.
Charter Communications will again provide the phone service for the Radiothon. To make a pledge call (218) 430-0600 or (877) 452-2971. Listeners may also call the Charter Communications Auction Line to bid on items. Those numbers are (218) 430-0605 or toll free (877) 452-2972.
The Dec. 3 broadcast will be from M State in Wadena. The college became the first day host last year with support from the student senate and various other school programs.
