The Mass of Christian Burial for Annette Lancaster was held Jan. 18, 2013, at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale, with Father Arli Sowada as celebrant. Annette, 72, passed away Jan. 13, 2013, in Minneapolis.

Annette Margaret Kneisl was born Oct. 25, 1940, to John and Clara (Price) Kneisl in Wadena. She was united in marriage with Herman Allen Lancaster on Nov. 19, 1960, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. They made their home in the Verndale community for more than 50 years.

Annette worked as a bartender and found time to care for others. Her hours away from work were filled with reading, gardening and a love of photography.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, on July 19, 2000; parents, John and Clara; brothers, John and Charles Kneisl; and sister, Rita Kneisl.

She is survived by her sons, David (Carmen) Lancaster of Four Oaks, N.C., and Mitchell (Laura) Lancaster of Sutherland, Va.; daughters, Theresa (Jim) Wutzke of Coon Rapids, Joan (Brian) Hanson of Albany, Carolyn (Michael) Hicks of Van Alstyne, Texas, Charlotte (Jon) Stokes of Baxter, Connie (Mark) Wutzke of Annandale and Jessica Lancaster of Wadena; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie King of Sherman, Texas, Margaret Hammerschmidt of Plymouth and Bernadine Boecker of Grey Eagle; along with her nieces and nephews, and many others who called her "mom."

Pallbearers were Cameron Wutzke, Alex Wutzke, Rikki Wutzke, Austin Hanson, Heidi Proctor, Leonard Lancaster, Kenneth Hricko and Dick Kneisl.

Burial will be next to her husband in St. Hubert's Catholic Cemetery in Bluegrass.

Arrangements were with the Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena.
