Anna Mae Tigges
Anna Mae Tigges, 83, passed away June 28, 2009.
She was born May 5, 1926, in St. Kilian, Minn., the ninth of 11 children to George and Rosa Spahn, recent immigrants from the Volga German Republic. She married Navy CPO Walter J. Tigges of Wadena in 1946 and traveled widely in the United States and Japan while raising her children. Later she worked for 23 years as a medical technician in Sandstone, Minn.
She retired with her husband to Sun City, Ariz., in 1984. Most recently she was a resident of Freedom Inn in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was famous for her pork ribs, German dumplings and chocolate birthday cakes. She was always eager to offer loved ones and friends an herbal remedy for every ailment. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was most generous with gifts and affection.
Mass was held at 3 p.m. on July 3 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Survivors include her three children, Connie (Tom) Vorpahl, Daniel (Shirley) Tigges and Cindy (Les) Feyma; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, John Spahn (Ceile) of Onamia, Minn.
