Ann Gunborg Sorgert, 89, passed away Nov. 6, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Ann was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Sweden to Nils and Ida Peterson. She arrived in the United States with her family as a young girl. She attended school in Anoka County, Minn. In 1949, she married Reinhold Sorgert and they resided on the family farm in Anoka County. They raised three sons. Ann was an accomplished seamstress, and she loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. In 1978, the family moved to the current farm in Wadena County. Ann enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and reading God's word daily.
Service for Ann will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16 at Thomastown Covenant Church in rural Staples, with the Rev. Dan Brodin presiding. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Interment will follow the service at Staples Evergreen Hill Cemetery. Brenny Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Richard, Staples, Raymond (Janel), Fargo, Ronald, Finlayson, Minn.; grandchildren, Reinell (Jackson) Helstad, Annandale, Minn., Rebecca Sorgert and Benjamin Sorgert of Fargo; great-grandchildren Anna, Oscar and Elizabeth Helstad; brother, Algot (Ellen) Peterson, Deerwood, Minn.; and sisters, Judy Kunshier, North Branch, Minn., and Florence Standfield, Staples.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reinhold; brother, Frank Peterson; and sister, Esther Spiczka.
