The funeral service for Anita Heiden was held Feb. 14, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek, with Pastor Paul Yearyean presiding.
Anita, 87, passed away Feb. 9, 2013, at Perham Living Center in Perham.
Anita Dorathea Thalmann Heiden was born Aug. 24, 1925, to Henry J. and Lillian A. (Ehlers) Thalmann in Ottertail.
Anita and Howard Walter Heiden were united in marriage May 31, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ottertail. Anita and Howard farmed by Deer Creek until they retired in 1979.
Faith was integral to Anita's life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek, where she was an active member of Bible study and Trinity Lutheran Circle. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary 283, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Spoon and Needle Homemakers group.
Over the years her hands were busy caring for her family, quilting, gardening, canning, painting and sewing. Anita enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Her family and friends will remember her as someone willing to try anything! Over the years she had been a resident in Deer Creek, Henning and New York Mills.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on July 16, 1994; parents, Henry and Lillian; daughter, Beverly Saari; brothers, Ewald and Wilbert Thalmann; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Grace Heiden; and brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Rosena Heiden.
She is survived by her children, Roger (Pam) of Deer Creek and Barbara Heiden of Hastings; son-in-law, John (Betty) Saari of Henning; sisters-in-law, June Thalmann of Haven, Kan., and Margaret Thalmann of St. Peter, Minn.; a nephew and niece; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with many cousins and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were John D. Saari, Jennifer A. Saari, Jeffrey D. Saari, Teresa L. Barthel, Craig M. Heiden and Bradley Ehlers.
Burial was set to be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Deer Creek.
Arrangements were with Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena.
