Alexandria's Cunniff endorsed by DFL in District 8B
Bob Cunniff, of Alexandria, was endorsed on Saturday, March 31 as the Democratic candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives in the new District 8B. The newly defined House District 8B includes most of the city limits of Alexandria, Alexandria Township and north, east to the Todd County line, and most of eastern Otter Tail County.
The endorsing convention took place in Battle Lake, along with the conventions for House District 8A and Senate District 8.
Jay Sieling of Alexandria placed Cunniff's name in nomination.
Cunniff won the nomination on the first ballot, over Carol Wenner of Alexandria.
"I'd like to thank the people of 8B for their support and endorsement. I want to represent all people in my district and am looking forward to traveling the area to meet everyone," he said.
Cunniff said, "If we want things to work, we need to elect people who think, have a conscience, who are creative and who see the big picture. We need problem solvers to come up with new solutions and who use real data before voting on an issue."
Cunniff is a retired coach, teacher, and KXRA sports announcer who has lived in the Alexandria area for 35 years. He's a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has been a Sunday School and confirmation teacher, a 4-H volunteer, a chairperson for the Senior Graduation Party, and recently a member of the Outreach Committee for the District 206 Referendum.
