On Monday, June 14, the sheriff's office responded to a call of a domestic in progress around 8:10 p.m. A dispatcher learned that the suspect, Mark Wonders, 43, of Aldrich, Minn., was armed and in a wooded area. Deputies set up a perimeter with the help of the Verndale Police Department, Todd County Sheriff's Office and Bertha Police Department.

Wonders was arrested without any shots being fired. He admitted to having a firearm but no ammunition, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Wonders was taken to the Wadena County Jail on a charge of domestic assault. The sheriff's office said more charges may come after further investigation.
