25-year-old shot on Christmas Day in hunting accident near Sebeka
A 25-year-old man from Elk River was rushed to the hospital on Christmas Day after being shot as a result of a hunting accident around 12:30 p.m.
According to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, a group of brothers was grouse hunting on public land in section 3 of Meadow Township, northeast of Sebeka. A 15-year-old hunter shot at a bird through heavy brush, but the 12-gauge shot struck a family member, Mark Vonada. Vonada was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids via Tri-County Ambulance.
The sheriff's office described Vonada's injuries as non-life-threatening.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was also assisted on scene by the Minnesota State Patrol and Sebeka First Responders. The case was sent to the Wadena County Attorney's Office for review.
