1st Annual Run 'Round Rose
The inaugural Run 'Round the Rose will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 7 a.m. The race will start from the regionally renown Spanky's Stone Hearth Restaurant and continuing for a 12 mile scenic route around beautiful Rose Lake.
Runners will find the route both scenic and challenging as it circles Rose Lake on black-top county roads and highways and maintained gravel/dirt secondary roads. Lush farm fields, lake vistas, woodlands and dairy farms will provide participants plenty of Mother Nature to observe during their jaunt.
Medals will be awarded to the top-three finalists in Men's, Women's and Relay categories.
And at the conclusion, the cool, clear waters of Rose Lake will revitalize the body for anyone who will take the plunge.
This event will be a timed race for athletes wishing to test their skill, but most importantly, the run will be a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. Runners of all calibers will be running for a great cause - and the important part will be to complete the 12 miles and raise money for diabetes research. And in the meantime, enjoy the sport we all love. A post-run awards reception with beverages and snacks will follow at Spanky's Stone Hearth.
Individuals and teams who want to participate in this fundraising running event have the option of collecting pledges from friends, family, businesses, etc., for each mile they run, or make a donation to cover the entry fee cost of $60 for an individual or $150 for a 4 person team. The minimum pledge amount must be collected prior to the date of the event and submitted at registration on Saturday, July 19, 2008.
Following are suggested amounts which runners are encouraged to solicit if they will be asking for pledges. As you can see, it doesn't take much from several people to make a sizeable donation:
50c per mile from 10 people = $60
$1 per mile from 10 people = $120
$2 per mile from 10 people = $240
All individual runners or team captains must complete and send in pre-registration information, including a $25 confirmation fee if collecting pledges, by Wednesday July 9, 2008, to receive a Run 'Round the Rose event t-shirt. The $25 will be applied to a runner's minimum pledge amount at race day registration. Runners who would rather pay the entry fee can either pay $50 in advance (to insure an event t-shirt will be ordered) or $60 the day of the run. Early Registration for relay teams is $125. (Complete fee schedule is shown below) The required forms can be downloaded. Liability waivers will be signed the day of the run at registration. The event director can also be contacted at email@example.com for copies of these forms as well. Checks must be made out to Run 'Round the Rose and cash will be accepted as well on the day of the event. Net proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
