Pete Hautman, acclaimed young-adult author, to visit Wadena Nov. 11
Book Ends, the monthly meet-the-author even in Wadena, welcomes Pete Hautman as guest on Nov. 11. Pete is a Minnesota prize-winning author of dozens of young-adult books.
His current book Slider features 14-year old David who enters a food-eating contest to pay for an accidental internet bid of $2,000. David is a middle child, and his relationship with older sister and younger autistic brother provide the serious meat of the novel. The slider eating contest provides the metaphorical meat.
Pete has won several awards including the National Book Award for Godless.
Book Ends is a monthly event at The Uptown in Wadena. It begins at 11 on every second Saturday and concludes around noon with book sales and autographs and lunch. There is no charge for the event. Lunch is on you.
"We're fortunate to have Pete join us," says moderator and Nimrod author Jerry Mevissen. "He's highly recommended by his peers and school librarians. Please join us and welcome Pete to Wadena."
