Library to host computer class Nov. 18

The Wadena City Library is happy to announce another free Legacy Arts Program this month. The Everett Smithson Band will perform in Humphrey Manor's dining room at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The theme is "Mississippi Music" and their repertoire includes country, bluegrass & blues, roots rock and zydeco. This program is open to the public and parking is available on the street around the block.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the library will host its Computer One workshop for patrons who are absolute beginners. A sign-up sheet is at the library for those who would like to attend. Space is limited to six participants who do not have their own laptops. An additional three may bring a laptop to learn. Space is limited, so please reserve as soon as possible. If the workshop is full, you may sign up for the standby list, which gives you priority in case of cancellations, as well as the workshop in February.

Topics for the computer workshop will include turning the system on, use of mouse and keyboard, navigating the internet and how to download tax forms.

Every second Tuesday of each month, the Friends of the Library book discussion group meets at St. Helen's church, just south of the library. You may park in the library parking lot and use the back door. This month they are reading and discussing Sulfur Springs, the latest novel by Minnesota author William Kent Krueger. Plenty of books are available at the library. Please stop by, have some coffee, and meet some of the more dedicated readers in Wadena.

The Friends of the Library just completed a very successful used book sale held at the Wadena Depot. Thank you to all who participated by bringing in books to sell, buying a book (or two or three) or working at the sale.

The Wadena City Library will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran's Day.
