Geye is Book Ends August guest

Book Ends, the monthly meet-the-author event in Wadena is excited to announce Peter Geye as August guest. Geye, a Minnesota native, has authored three novels where Minnesota and its people figure prominently. He showcases the north shore of Lake Superior in its splendors and dangers and mysteries. And its challenges.

Geye's three novels are Safe From the Sea (2010), The Lighthouse Road (2012), and Wintering (2016). Wintering won the Minnesota Book Award for Fiction.

Geye writes of what he knows, having spent childhood vacations in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. After a bumpy youth as a student in Minneapolis, he accepted a challenge from a high school English teacher to read a book if he hoped to be as smart as he acted. He read Hemingway and the rest is literary history. With his writing, Geye hopes to inform his children about their father's values and to inform parents about loving their children in a million different ways.

Book Ends begins at 11 a.m. Aug. 12 at The Uptown in Wadena and concludes with lunch. The format includes Geye discussing his novels and the writing process in general with short readings from his books, followed by Q&A, book sales, and autographs. .

"We're fortunate to have booked Peter before he won the Minnesota Book Award," says moderator and Nimrod author Jerry Mevissen. "He's a busy man. If you love a tight novel with strong characters and a Lake Superior's north shore setting, be sure to join us."
